Why NikPAD

Built for people who live in text.

Other notepads make you wait, lose your work, or look like 1998. NikPAD is different — here's what you get on day one.

True syntax highlighting

A fast, stateful tokenizer colours 40+ languages as you type — comments, strings and nesting included.

Tabs, search & replace

Work across many files at once, with regex find & replace, replace-all and go-to-line.

Encodings done right

UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16, Windows-1252 fallback and CRLF / LF / CR line endings preserved.

55+ skins & dark mode

A wardrobe of themes plus a one-click sun / moon toggle, so it always looks like yours.

Saves that can't fail

Atomic write-then-rename means a crash can never corrupt your work.

Updates on your terms

NikPAD checks for new releases quietly and lets you skip any version with one click.

Code formatting

One click re-indents code the right way — braces for C-style and JSON, tags for HTML, indentation for Python.

Fast, even when files get big.

NikPAD's tokenizer colours code at a few microseconds a line and knows when to step back on huge files, so typing never lags. The editor underneath is the browser's own — so caret, undo and selection always feel instant.

A look you'll actually enjoy.

55+ hand-tuned skins, a one-click dark / bright switch and syntax colours that follow your theme. Your editor should feel like yours, not like a grey box.

Your files, exactly as they were.

Atomic saves, preserved line endings and encodings, and a warning the moment a file changes underneath you. Open, edit, save — and nothing gets mangled.

In action

Find and replace with regex options — Find & replace with case, whole-word and regex options.

The skin picker with 55+ built-in skins — The skin picker — 55+ built-in looks, one click away.

Dark theme — Dark, in the signature Nikkoid look.

Bright theme — Bright — the same editor, one toggle away.

Skins

55+ looks, one click away.

Every colour, font and glow comes from the skin. The same editor can look like a clean office tool, a retro terminal or a hacker screen — and each one is one click away.
